Gina has a very patient and supportive family. I was touched by what they did for her despite the level of difficulties they must have encountered, the fact that they wholeheartedly embraced her and her difference, not in any small ways, but by leaps and bounds.This story has lifted me up in more ways than one; it gives me hope, inspires me to be optimistic, advocate for those who are without the voice, and deliver to them real change.
Gina was simply amazing. Another noteworthy thing is that there was no giving up for her parents, even if it meant going halfway around the world to give her the dignity, respect the care she rightly deserved. If I could just sum it up in one word it would be love - UNCONDITIONALLY.Four ways as a teacher I will help parents share their voices are:Encouraging them to be persistent, believe in their children and love them unconditionally because love always wins.Fight for what they believe, form alliances with other parents. Involve themselves in the lives of their children to the fullest, whether it be at school or at home.Think positive, seek to use every available resources
