- What are taxes, well taxes are used by the government paid by the people to fund the military. We still use taxes today to pay for the military but taxes don't increase or decrease when there's a war because everytime you pay for something there is yax that the government saves for when there's a war. The only fair way for the British to enforce the taxes was to tax everything at a reasonable price.
