- Hi! My name is Maximus and I'm a citizen under the Roman Empire. Us citizens live in single houses in a courtyard called an atrium.
- On a daily basis, I eat meat and legumes. I stay physically active by dancing and practicing fencing with my sword for fun!
- Since I come from a lower-income family, I work by helping my father with farming. I am educated at home because school is for the wealthier boys.
- On the other hand, boys are expected to become fighters in case of a war or learn public speaking for a living.
- However, this is better than what Roman girls get. They are taught to take care of their homes at a young age.
- Every citizen is free to worship any god or goddess they choose. I believe in the God of the Sky, Zeus. In honor of him, I attend a festival every four years in Olympia.
- Hello there! My name is Jing and I live in a one-room rammed earth home in China under the Han Dynasty. Some of my favorite foods to eat here are rice and chestnuts!
- As a daughter in China, I am not allowed to do whatever I desire. Usually, girls like me help our mothers take care of the house. Other than that, I like to weave in my own home.
- Life under the Han rule, women are restricted from doing almost everything! We stay indoors while our fathers or husbands work. Whether you're from a rich or poor family, us girls cannot go to school.
- Even though I am poor, all women and young girls like me are expected to raise children, clean, cook and do chores. Only the men have a say in family matters, or higher empresses.
- My religion is Confucianism. I worship my ancestors and believe in kindness towards others to live a peaceful life.
- In this religion, we do all types of rituals like the initiation ceremony and funeral rites.
