- Hello! Today I will be telling you about the cell theory and the scientist that contributed to it.
- The cells theory consists of three main ideas. 1. All organisms are composed of one or more cells2. Cells are the basic unit of life3. Cells come from preexisting cellsNow lets learn how this theory came to be.
- It started when Robert Hooke discovered many small box like structures when looking at a piece of cork.
- These remind me small rooms so I will call them cells.
- This is how cells got their name!
- All of these plants are made up of cells.
- Matthias Schleiden , a German botanist, did more research on cells and declared that they are the basic building blocks to plant life.
- All of these animals have cells so it is not just plants
- Theodor Schwann then added on to the theory by discovering that all animals are composed of cells.
- Robert Brown discovered the nucleus of the cell which helped to put together that all living things are made of cells.
- This cell is composed of many parts.
- These cells duplicate!
- Lastly, Rudolf Virchow proposed that all cells come from preexisting cells.
