- Hello! My name is Sofiya. I am 19 years old (almost 20). My birthday is on September 11, and I usually get a super awkward reaction when I say this to people. But yes, I am happy to be here with you this semester. I moved to New York City in 2017.
- But I am from Ukraine. When the war started, I was visiting my family in Ukraine. A russian missile literally flew over my head as I ran into the bomb shelter one day. I remember this sound very clearly. When they hit the oil depot near my house, the ground shook strongly, and it was honestly the scariest moment of my life. Unfortunately, the war is not over, and terrible things are happening in Ukraine now. I can only hope for the best for my country and wait for our victory. Currently, I live in New York City with my family.
- I like to spend time with kids, so I help Ukrainians who came here recently to improve their English so they can feel more comfortable in the environment. I also love to go to the gym and spend time with my family and friends. I dream of traveling around the world and helping people using my professional skills. I am so happy to start this semester and hope to have a wonderful time in this virtual community!
