- Hi! My name is Avé and I'm an aspiring anthropologist! I've been learning multiple ethnographic field methods, but my favorite so far has been photovoice.
- Let me show you some examples..
- The image behind me represents a background similar to the first photo given to me by my subject.
- I originally analyzed that she was at a stop light waiting. I could tell that the subject lived more in a city than a suburb because of how many cars were present in the image.
- After discussing with the subject, I was notified that the photo represented the awful choice she made to drive to and from class that day. "I was traveling home when I took this photo, and the heavy traffic made the trip take 20 minutes longer".
- The second image was a selfie of the subject walking down a street similar to this one.
- I originally analyzed the person appeared to be strolling. The subjects' attire suggested that the weather is sunny yet chilly. It was possible that the subject in the image was strolling to or from class.After discussion, I was told she was strolling through downtown on her way to a cafe to finish some homework. She consistently wore sweatshirts because the weather there had been so frigid.
