Greece felt threatened by the Persian Empire as they expanded their territory to the Ionian Peninsula. Athens sent soldiers to aid the Ionians (Ionian Revolt) Persia wanted to extend their empire and control Greece who they viewed as a threat. Wanted revenge for the burning of Sardis during the Ionian Revolt. Eventually, even though they were largely outnumbered the Greeks won at the battle of Platea and became one united nation, which in modern day is called, Greece. Persia had lost but sought revenge against Athens.
We are one nation!
Over time Athens wanted increasingly more control over the other city-states and the Delian League and the people did not like that. Especially the Spartans. When they were fed up Persia gave them more money to start their own naval fleet. Eventually, the Spartans won at the battle of Aegospotami. It was due to their brilliant strategies that made the Athenians surrender. This was a turning point for Greece because of 3 years of war, they had weakened and made it easy for the to be conquered by Macedonia.
My work here is done.
Ahhh. New land.
I will not let my father's empire crumble!
After Phillip of Macedonia was assassinated, Alexander promised to fulfill Philip's promise to conquer Persia. Alexander killed any Greek leader who threatened to take his position as king He left members of his entourage to control different areas of Persia. They ruled in the Greek Style He often shared gold and other treasures of war with his soldiers and loyal leader He built cities modeled after cities in Greece all over As He brought Greek ideas , religion, and architecture. After he died, his empire quickly collapsed because no one had the strength of influence he had.
Putting these things around this castle will definitely spread culture!
This empire won't last a decade without me
