- This conflict is Juana vs Kino. When Juana finds the pearl, she tries to sneak away with it and throw it back in the ocean. Kino catches her and beats her so he can get the pearl back.

- This conflict is the doctor vs society. The doctor refuses to help Coyotito because his parents are poor. The doctor ignores them because of their social class which is a societal issue.

- This conflict is Kino vs greed. Kino will not give up the pearl because he wants all the benefits to himself. The pearl brought out a sense of greed for the opportunities he could have in life.
- Man vs society
- This conflict is Kino vs The Pearl. Ever since Kino found the pearl, he is constantly changing who he is. The pearl brings out a new side of Kino. He is mentally battling himself.
- The pearl is my soul
- This conflict is Kino vs the attackers. When Kino is on the beach with Juana after beating her, he gets attacked by these two people who want the pearl. Kino ends up killing one of them.
- This conflict is Kino vs his town. His town is extremely jealous of the Pearl. They follow Kino everywhere and make sure they know everything he does with the pearl. They beg him for some of the pearl but Kino does not give in.
