Welcome Everyone! My name is Melissa and I am the creative lead on this exciting new restaurant concept! I wanted to start this first meeting with an icebreaker called Hot Seat. Each of you will have a chance to sit in the "hot seat" where everyone can ask you ONE question to get to know you better, or to spark a conversation about the upcoming project.So... who wants to go first?
My childhood is the reason actually! Some of my best memories growing up are with my family in the kitchen cooking together. They taught me to love and appreciate food, and I wanted to share my knowledge and experience with it to anybody who wants to listen.
That's perfect! Exactly what we needed.
Cool, I’m a chef too! I’d love to know what inspired you to start your business?
21 Ossington Presentation
Now that you’re familiar with the project, I wanted to tell you why I picked you all for the team. My research was based on supporting the community through the creation of a third-place. In light of the recent pandemic, I wanted to design a space that will enable social interaction through food. It provides the community with a new experience where they can participate with friends, family, significant others, or complete strangers. A home away from home connection. All of you come from different backgrounds, upbringings, etc. and can all give different aspects or ideas that I may not have thought about. I wanted all of us to come together to find a solution that we feel is the best use for the space.
I'd love to be able to connect the users to the community by bringing in local vendors, artists, restaurants, and even sourcing materials locally. It brings exposure to and connects us with the community in every aspect!
It's important for the users to feel safe and comfortable in the spaces they're learning, cooking, or eating in. We can do this by paying close attention to how the spaces are arranged to create that state of the art experience for them.
It would be a great idea to give the users a space where they can learn about what they're putting into their bodies. Or learn how to be better with what they put into their bodies!
I never would have thought about it that way! It's so interesting to hear the professional's side of this. I love the idea of having a new type of experience rather than a typical sit-down restaurant!
Agreed! Hearing all the different perspectives really got me thinking out of the box!
Bye team! It was so nice to finally meet everyone.
We had some great ideas today! I think this approach to the meeting really worked out.
See you all at the next meeting!
