- Ahhhhh! You scared me!
- Boo!
- Hey mom, I’m going to go outside and put up the spider webs!
- Okay, don’t take too long. Dinner will be ready in about 30 minutes.
- 3. But Mom I really think..
- 1. Mom, I think there is someone outside.
- 2.It’s probably just Toby again. You know he’s the troublemaker of the neighborhood.
- 4.Max, just go to bed. You’ll be fine.
- Mom, I keep hearing knocking noises from downstairs
- What do you mean?
- It was the year 1993 and the day before Halloween when I went to the store with my mom to get some candy for trick or treaters. We got Skittles, lollipops, and a lot of chocolate. I was so excited to dress up as my favorite horror movie character, Michael Myers. We paid for the candy and headed home to finish decorating the house.I was almost done putting up the spider webs when suddenly, I got a weird feeling that someone was watching me. I turned around and didn't see anyone so I continued putting up the spider webs. After a few minutes, I heard some rattling noises coming from the bushes, as I turned around I saw my neighbor. I was so relieved!
- AHHHHHHHH! You scared us! We thought you were an intruder!
- Wait... if you went through the back who knocked on the front door?!
- Sorry, I called you to let me in because I lost my key. I ended up coming through the backdoor.
- I also didn't knock on the front door because I didn't want to disturb you guys.
- My mom called me in for dinner when it was ready. While I was eating dinner with my mom, I started telling her how Toby scared me. Then I noticed something, a tall figure. I thought it must’ve been Toby but he’s shorter than I am and the figure looked like it was a lot taller than I am. I tried explaining to Mom what I saw and that I was a little scared, but she didn't believe me.
- I wonder where my Halloween costume is...

- I went upstairs and got ready for bed, but I still felt weird, like someone was outside waiting for me. I finally fell asleep but then after about three hours I heard a lot of knocking and banging on the door. I got up quietly and tip-toed to my Mom’s room. I woke her up and told her what I kept hearing.
- Hey Max! Where’s your costume?
- Oh, I couldn't find my costume.
- We started going downstairs. I was right behind my mom because I was scared, and worried. The knocking started to become louder. Then it became a pattern, the knocking would be loud then go completely silent. My mom went to open the door and saw nobody. Then we heard the back door starting to open. We both looked at each other in shock and scared. I took a step closer and saw my dad. I was glad it was my dad at the door but still confused at who was banging on the door.
- It was Halloween morning. I was able to fall asleep knowing that my dad was home. I was still just a little curious at who could’ve been at the door but I wasn’t going to let it ruin Halloween. I woke up at 6:00am to get ready for school. I went into my closet to grab my Halloween costume but it wasn’t there. So I ran to my parent’s room to ask them if they’ve seen it. They said they hadn't and to check downstairs. I couldn't find it so I gave up. I ran downstairs and looked everywhere. I couldn’t find it. I had no idea where it could’ve been at this point. I also noticed that a knife was missing from the Knife box. So I just got ready and went to school with no costume.
- Toby and I kept talking but then the bell rang and we had to go to class. School was almost over but all I could think about was my costume and how it was missing. I also thought about how the knife was missing too. Soon enough, school was over and I went home.
