  • Martin LutherMartin Luther was a religious reformer who nailed 95 Theses against the Catholic Churches door on October 31st, 1517. The 95 theses were bold statements criticizing the Catholic Church’s practice in indulgences. The practice of indulgences allowed people to be forgiven of their sins when they paid the church money. Martin Luther made a book about the 95 Theses and the printing Press helped him spread the book.
  • Johann GutenbergJohann Gutenberg was a German inventor. He Invented the Printing Press. This would help with the spread of books for a lot less money.
  • Copernicus & GalileoNicolaus Copernicus and Galileo Galilei were astronomers. Copernicus had a theory that Earth was not the center of the universe, but instead the sun. Galileo proved his theory. Galileo began to publish his findings and the Catholic Church did not agree with any. The Catholic Church believed that since people (God's creation) are on Earth, the Earth had to be the center of the universe.
