- The people of Russia were upset at Czar Nicholas II and how the country was being run. There were food and fuel shortages and the royal family was becoming more and more unpopular.
- My Red army, you must fight off the White army and save Russia!!
- On March 8, 1917, 100,000s men and women marched on Petrograd chanting Down with the Czar! Soldiers sent to take care of the crowd ended up joining them. On March 16 Czar Nicholas II abdicates ending the 300 year old dynasty.
- Now we're in power and control Russia! Communism is the best!
- While in exile, Vladimir Lenin was watching the political war happening in Russia while it fought off Germany during the First World War. He and a man named Leon Trotsky would soon create an army dubbed The Red Army and fight to rule Russia.

- During the Russian civil war, Leon Trotsky formed the red army to fight off the white army. By 1923, the Red Army had defeated all theWhite Armies.
- After the victory of the Russian civil war, Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky took power and control over Russia. This would lead to the people of Russia living under similar conditions as before the revolts and civil wars.
- The people of Russia were still unhappy with the Communist rule. After Lenin’s death, Trotsky and Stalin went into a power struggle with Stalin eventually seizing power in 1929.
