  • Democritus was an Ancient Greece philosopher. He thought matter was made of small particles. Also, that the small particles couldn’t be cut to be smaller. These particle ares called atoms.
  • John Dalton wasn’t just a chemist he was also a physicist, and meteorologist. His theory was that atoms were tiny, invisible particle. Also that compounds were created by combining atoms.
  • J.J Thompson was a English Phycisist. credited with the discovery and identification of the electron. He thought atoms are made mostly out of positive charged materials, like dough in a bun.
  • Ernest Rutherford was a New Zealand-born British physicist. He thought atoms have positive particles in the center, and are mostly empty space.
  • Bohr a danish physicist. Made foundational contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum theory. Also, he improved on Rutherford’s model. Proposed that electrons move around the nucleus in specific layers, or shells.
  • Chadwick was a British physicist. Worked on Rutherford to discover particles with no charge. It was called neutrons.
