Siužetinės Linijos Aprašymas
The following story depicts a young adult attempting to enter a club without a valid ID. After not gaining access, she is enraged and heads towards the back exit of the establishment and lights the club's dumpster on fire. The Actus Reus for this case is the act of her setting the club's property on fire (committing arson). The character in my story demonstrates Mens Rea by clearly intending to set the establishment's fire property on fire to settle the score. Her act was also deliberate. This crime falls under section 433 of the criminal code which states: "Every person who intentionally or recklessly causes damage by fire or explosion to property, whether or not that person owns the property, is guilty of an indictable offence." Furthermore, depending on the damage done by the fire she could be imprisoned for up to fourteen years. This is supported by section 434, which states: "Every person who intentionally or recklessly causes damage by fire or explosion to property that is not wholly owned by that person is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years."
