- On the Cape Verdes islands, Darwin noticed some seashells that were way above sea level, which suggested that the Earth has changed over time.
- When Darwin had gotten home from a university trip one day, he had received a letter from his botany proffesor than said that he was invited to serve as a gentleman naturalist aboard the HMS Beagle.

- His father, though, was against the idea of Darwin going on some wild trip around the world. Fortunately, Darwin's uncle, Josiah Wedgwood, changed Darwin's fathers' mind and he was allowed to go alongside his uncle.
- It is aboard the trip he took around the world in the HMS Beagle that Charles Darwin formulated his different ideas, such as the theory of evolution and natural selection. He visited many different places, such as the Cape Verde Islands and the Galapagos Islands.
- How'd these seashells get up here? This must suggest that the Earth changes over time!
