Summary Three
Mercurio and Tybalt begin to fight. Romeo, attempting to restore peace, throws himself between the fight. Tybalt stabs Mercurio under Romeo’s arm, and as Mercurio falls, Tybalt and his men hurry away.
Literary Device
Romeo and Tybalt are fighting because Romeo is furious that he killed Mercurio.
Theme: Hate
The nurse told Juliet the fight between Romeo and Tybalt, and she told her that Romeo is exile from Verona, then Juliet gives the nurse her wedding ring to bring to Romeo as a sign of love and that she wants Romeo to return it back to her finger.
Foreshadowing-The first public place was the site of much acrimony; this location on a day that is hot portends danger as the word “mad blood” was used.
