- Her mother wanted Jing- mei to become famous so she took her to get a haircut. She endedup getting te peter pan haircut. She ended up being just as exited as her mother if not more.

- Her mother took her to learn the piano with a old man named Mr. Chong. She met old lady Chong once but that was enough because she smelled like a baby that had done something in its pants. She sooned realized why Mr. Chong retired from piano was because he was deaf.
- Resolution
- When it was Jing-mei's turn she thought she was doing good until a chill started at the top of her head. When she stood up she noticed her legs shaking. The room was quiet all she heard was Mr. Chong yelling BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO! She thought her fiasco made her mother give up on her playing the piano until she said 4 o clock but Jing-mei wished she was dead.

- Jing mei had dropped out of collage and she didn't believe that she could be anything unlike her mother . Neither of them spoke of what Jing mei said when she said that she wished that she was dead
- Jing-mei's mother had died a few months before she sent a tuner and had the piano recondition to her parents apartment. She touched the piano keys and it was a really good piano.
- Jing-mei is starting to not want to become a child prodigy. Her mother keeps pushing her to become a child prodigy She made her memorize the capitals and states from Europe.
