Demeter, Persephone, and Hades

- Persephone and Demeter were in a field doing what they usually do. Suddenly, the ground started to crack and Persephone was taken down to the Underworld by Hades. After this, Demeter felt so sad and didn't do her jobs and the Earth started to die.
- AHHHH!

- In the Underworld, (Persephone had been there with Hades for a while) Hermes came to get Persephone upon Zeus's request. Before Persephone left, she ate some pomegranate seeds (the fruit of the dead/Underworld).
- Okay.
- Persephone, you need to come with me.
- Wait! Persephone, eat this before yo go!
- Once they meet Zeus, Persephone tells Zeus that she ate a couple of pomegranate seeds. Then, Zeus tells her that Demeter wants her back on Earth with her, but Hades also wants her in the Underworld. So, Zeus says that Persephone will spend half the year with her mother, Demeter, and the other half with Hades in He Underworld.
- You will spend half the year with your mother, and half with Hades.
- Persephone goes back to Earth with Demeter for half of a year and they do their jobs so everything doesn't die again, like when Demeter was without Persephone.
- I need you to help with the dead souls down here.
- After Persephone spends half a year with Demeter on Earth, Persephone goes back down to the Underworld and spends the other half of the year with Hades. The split time goes on each year and everyone is happier now.
- What do I need to do to help the souls?
- Help the new ones settle down.
- When Persephone was in the Underworld with Hades, these times were known as fall/autumn and winter. When Persephone was on Earth with Demeter, this time was known as spring and summer. These are the seasons we now use.
