Physical wellness is a very important part of your total wellness. As stated in M2 Lesson 2: Physical Wellness, "Physical wellness is finding a balance of physical activity, proper nutrition, and mental well-being. This means taking responsibility for your own physical health." Good physical wellness lowers your risk of disease and depression. It also increases your life-expectancy, builds strong bones, helps you be more confident, and have better sleep. In the module it's said that, "There are five health-related components of physical activity: body fat composition, flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance." Physical wellness is not just about being good at sports or how many pushups you can do, but also how the activity you preform is helping to improve your overall health.
SMART goals. A SMART goal is a goal that is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. Most goal making lessons discussed in the classroom are about making academic goals, but goals are very important to wellness too. Some goals that could relate to physical wellness could be 'I will jog for thirty minutes every day' or 'I will eat healthy meals five days this week'. SMART goals can also be made to improve your social and mental/emotional wellness.
As mentioned in the last article, your physical wellness can be improved with the right SMART goals. "Goal setting is not only a life skill, but will help keep you focused and motivated, avoid procrastination, and allow you to measure your progress." (M2 Lesson 3: SMART Goals) Setting goals throughout your life will give you something to work towards and once you accomplish the goal, you can reward yourself. Goals can help you in all areas of your wellness, meaning they can improve your total wellness, and in turn, improve your life.
