  • Enough of this. I pray thee, hold thy peace.
  • ...And, pretty fool, it stinted and said “Ay.”
  • “Yea,” quoth my husband. “Fall’st upon thy face?Thou wilt fall backward when thou comest to age,Wilt thou not, Jule?” It stinted and said “Ay.”
  • Yes, madam, yet I cannot choose but laugh To think it should leave crying and say “Ay.”

  • Lady Capulet has come up to Juliet's room to ask her about her opinion on marriage. The nurse is ranting and Lady Capulet is getting annoyed so she tells her to stop talking. 
  • Marry, that “marry” is the very themeI came to talk of.—Tell me, daughter Juliet,How stands your disposition to be married?
  • It is an honor that I dream not of.
  • The nurse is continuing to rant.
  • Well, think of marriage now. Younger than youHere in Verona, ladies of esteem,Are made already mothers.
  • Nay, he’s a flower, in faith, a very flower.
  • Verona’s summer hath not such a flower.
  • A man, young lady—lady, such a manAs all the world—why, he’s a man of wax.
  • The nurse is still ranting but this time Juliet tells her to be quiet.
  • Speak briefly. Can you like of Paris’ love?
  • Lady Capulet, Juliet's mother, is asking Juliet about her opinion on marriage. Juliet doesn't seem to want to get married and the nurse is shocked.
  • An honor? Were not I thine only nurse,I would say thou hadst sucked wisdom from thyteat.
  • Lady Capulet is telling Juliet about all the other girls her age and younger in Verona who are married and already have kids. While the nurse encourages Juliet to get married. 
  • Lady Capulet tells Juliet about Paris and is asking Juliet to give it a chance to let them get to know each other. Juliet says she'll give it a chance. 
  • No less? Nay, bigger. Women grow by men.
  • To beautify him only lacks a cover.This precious book of love, this unbound lover,Find written in the margent of his eyes.And what obscured in this fair volume liesAnd see how one another lends content,Examine every married lineamentAnd find delight writ there with beauty’s pen.Read o’er the volume of young Paris’ face,This night you shall behold him at our feast.What say you? Can you love the gentleman?
