- He sees the hitchhiker again, and is very confused. He keeps seeing the hitchhiker as he is driving along the road. He takes his car to a mechanic and a convenience store, trying not to seem crazy.
- Your mother is in the hospital because of a nervous breakdown after the death of her oldest son, Ronald.
- Adams is done with the hitchhiker and tries to run him over, but his car gets stuck on train tracks.
- Adams picks up a young girl and tells her about his plans to kill the hitchhiker. The girl gets out of the car because it would be too dangerous to stay with Adams.
- Adams arrives at a trailer camp in New Mexico. He calls his mother for comfort, but a woman says she is in the hospital because Adams had died.
