  • One day, Aponi-tolau, a mountain warrior and god-hero of the Tinguian, bored by the sight of the mountains, went down to the lowlands until he reached the seashore. He was amazed by the calm blue sea and decided to make a rattan raft and row seaward.
  • The sea is so beautiful!
  • Despite his anger, the water lord took pity on his favorite Humitau and called back the water and waves. When the water subsided, Aponi-tolau and his wife, Humitau, went down to the lowlands, and from them came the people of the world.
  • Aponi-tolau gathered his courage and went closer to the palace gates to inquire about the place. However, the maiden guards laughed at him and lured him.
  • What place is this?
  • The laughing sea maidens led him further inside the palace. This made Aponi-tolau angry. He lashed at the sea maidens with his magic hook, hitting Humitau, the youngest and prettiest of them. The magic oil Aponi-tolau had at the tip of his hook got into Humitau's blood and made her weak and helpless.
  • Aaaahhhh!!
  • Back in the ocean, Tau-mariu called a meeting of the gods and demigods of the sea. The divinities agreed to punish the dwellers of the land for what Aponi-tolau had done.
