A month. Promise. A month! Then find jewels. Stick. Rag. Follow the falls to the day…
In the beginning of the book we are introduced to March and his father, Alfie, who is a notorious cat burglar. Unfortunately, Alfie falls off a building when the two are on a heist, and as sirens wail in the distance, he manages to get out a few last words.
Don’t die. Please don’t die…
March soon finds out that when his father said to find Jules, he meant March's sister Jules, whom he finds at Amsterdam Central Station in a show. The two are taken on a flight, as they share their thoughts, to Polestar House, a foster home. There, they met Darius and Izzy who accompany them throughout the book.

I can make you a deal. Get the moonstones before the blue moons though. They are crude magic.
At their father's funeral, March and Jules meet a woman named Carlotta Grimstone, who was one of Alfie's jewel victims. She wants her seven stolen moonstones back and is willing to pay a fair price. The jewels are magic though and Carlotta needs to have them before the next blue moon.
As they realize that Aflie left them clues to the whereabouts of the seven moonstones, March, Jules, Darius, and Izzy form a gang and begin to plan their first heist. They soon learn from a "gem advisor" though that Alfie kept March and Jules apart because of a prophecy made the night before the moonstones were stolen. If the curse isn't reversed before the setting of the blue moon on their 13th birthday, they will die together.
On the quest to find all seven of the moonstones, the kids soon find five of them and they only need two more to break the curse. It turns out that Mike Shannon, a former detective, has the moonstone and they plan to steal it from him. Unfortunately, Shannon catches them in his lair, and they have to risk their lives getting down from the building and running.
The last moonstone is in the hands of Blue and Oscar Ford, who was a former colleague of Alfie. They both were working together in order to get the money. March, Jules, Darius, and Izzy, manage to make a successful plan and they end up with all seven of the moonstones. Then, they break the curse, but unfortunately, the moonstones are vanished by doing this. They still end up with a lot of money, and the story ends with March, Jules, Darius, and Izzy all saying something Alfie would probably say: Living sure is easy when you have twenty million in the bank.
