- Gentrification is the process where the character of a poor urban area is changed by wealthier people moving in, improving housing, and attracting new businesses, typically displacing current inhabitants in the process. Ex: Brooklyn housing prices have Nearly doubled in the last 10 years.

- An edge city is an urban area with a large suburban residential and business area surrounding it. Ex: Century City a city outside Los Angeles.
- Suburb
- A ring of land maintained as parks, agriculture, or other types of open space to limit the sprawl of an urban area. Ex: Scottsdale
- Rural
- Since i moved away from the city's influence my life has been much more enjoyable
- I hate living so close to the Factorys
- Zoning is dividing an area into zones or sections reserved for different purposes such as residence and business and manufacturing etc. Ex: London in the 1800s
- I agree the business zone is too close to the residential zone
- Suburbs are residential communities, located outside of city centers, that are usually relatively homogeneous in terms of population. Ex: Queens, New York.

- Rural settlements are sparsely settled places away from the influence of large cities. Ex: The central valley.
