  • Yes sir.
  • Act 1, Scene 2
  • Go tell Macbeth he is the new Thane of Cawdor, we shall have the traitor executed.
  • Act 1, Scene 3
  • You hearing this Banquo?
  • Macbeth, you will become Thane of Cawdor, then you will be crowned king.
  • Great, looks like I'm going to have to kill Duncan AND Malcolm.
  • The story opens with three witches. The sisters agree to meet up after the war in an open field where they will meet and talk with Macbeth.
  • Act 1, Scene 4
  • The throne shall be passed down to my son.
  • Duncan's men deliever him the news of the battle. Macbeth has been proven victorious in several battles and that the previous Thane of Cawdor is a traitor. As a reward for Macbeth, he grants him the title of Thane of Cawdor and has the traitor executed.

  • You must disguise yourself as a loyal host in order to kill the king!
  • The witches meet Macbeth after the battle like they said. They tell Banquo he won't be king but his children will be. They tell Macbeth he will become Thane of Cawdor then eventually be crowned king.

  • Duncan expresses his gratitude towards Macbeth and Banquo. Duncan grants his son, Malcolm, as the heir to the throne of Scotland. Macbeth plots to kill Duncan and Malcolm.
  • Lady Macbeth receives a letter from Macbeth, telling her about the witches' prophecies. After a messenger tells her that the king is coming, she calls forth the evil spirits to help her commit the horrible deed. After Macbeth arrives, she reminds him to be a good host in order to kill the king.
  • Macbeth begins to have second thoughts about his horrendous plot. Lady Macbeth discovers that her husband has changed his mind and calls him a coward. She tells him her plan to kill Duncan, which is to get the king's attendants drunk. When they fall asleep, Macbeth will steal their weapons and stab the king with them.
