- George and Lennie have to flee Weed after Lennie touches a girl's dress which he is attracted to because it looks soft and he likes to touch soft things. The girl became worried that Lennie was trying to rape her
- Climax
- George and Lennie are friends but because of Georges mental disability they find themselves in bad situations.
- Falling action
- The bosses son, Curley immediately doesn't like Lennie and picks on him. Curleys wife is always causing problems by seeking attention from all of the men.
- Resolution
- Lennie was given a puppy by Slim. He was in the barn tending it when Curleys wife walks in and they begin to talk, without realizing it Lennie grabs her hair because he likes soft things. When she gets nervous and tells him to stop he begins to panic and breaks her neck
- Lennie was given specific instructions by George that if anything ad happened he was to hide near the river. George meets him there.
- Go hide in the brush by the river!
- George shoots Lennie before Curley could find him. The men cover it up. The reader feels sorrow for George having to kill his best friend.
