  • Boston Massacre

  • Declaration of Independence Signing
  • In 1767, another law was passed saying that all goods that were imported like glass, tea, paint, and lead would be taxed. People stopped buying the goods that were being imported because of the taxes, and people stopped making money, so the parliament eventually repealed the Townshend Act after the Boston Massacre.
  • This is unfair!
  • WHY!?
  • Why do we have to pay taxes for goods?!
  • Because of the Townshend Act, the colonists were starting to get angry with how they were being treated, so on March 5, 1770 mobs of colonists threw rocks at the soldiers and the soldiers fought back, killing 5 colonists
  • Ugh!
  • Watch out!
  • In 1776, the colonists created a document, the Declaration of Independence, stating that they were officially separating from Great Britain and their king, and it lists all 27 grievances they had with Great Britain. This meant that the colonies could now make their own decisions, and had independence!
