The witches, accompanied by the head witch, Hecate are mixing outrageous ingredients into their 'stew'. Such as; “eye of newt and toe of frog, / Wool of bat and tongue of dog”.
Scene 2
Macbeth goes to the witches for a second time. They tell him that he has to be aware of Macduff. They also tell him “none of woman born / shall harm Macbeth”. The witches vanish and Lennox arrives, informing Macbeth that Macduff has fled.
Scene 3
At Macduff's castle, Lady Macduff demands to know the reasoning behind her husband fleeing. Ross tells her that he trusts Macduff's reason. Ross departs shortly before a messenger arrives and tells Lady Macduff to flee.
Scene 3
After Lady Macduff and her son refuse to flee since they have done nothing wrong. A group of murderers then arrive and announce Macduff as dead. Once the son calls the murderer a liar, the murderer stabs him. Lady Macduff then flees with the murderers chasing after her.
Outside King Edward's castle in London, Macduff locates Malcolm. Malcolm is skeptical of Macduff's innocence at first. But soon loses the scepticism.
While Malcolm and Macduff are talking, Ross arrives to inform Macduff of horrible news that took place regarding his wife and children. The trio then help Macduff overcome the grief of the situation.
