- Newton's First law states that an object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted on by an outside force. In this scenario, the ball was at rest until force was exerted on the ball by someone kicking it, which caused the ball to become in motion.

- Newton's Second law states that the force acting on an object is equal to the mass of the object times its acceleration (F = M x A). In this scenario, a large amount of force is required to move (accelerate) the heavy rock because of its large mass.
- Newton's Third Law states that each action has an equal and opposite reaction. In this scenario, the force put on the spring by the person (action), causes the person to be propelled into the air by the force from the spring (reaction).
