  • I want to sleep close to you Hermia, I want our hearts to be one.
  • No Lysander, we are young and unmarried. We cannot sleep close together yet.
  • An hour later...
  • Young Athenian, when you awaken you will fall in love with the first person you will see.
  • Meanwhile...
  • Stop following me! I'm going on my own. If anything happens, don't say that I didn't warn you.
  • Lysander and Hermia lie down to sleep on the grass, but Hermia says that Lysander should not sleep close to her. They argue about this, as Lysander says that their hearts should be one, but Hermia talks about how they aren't married and should sleep apart; this causes Lysander to eventually agree with her, and they both sleep apart.
  • I wish I was Hermia so that I wouldn't have to chase Demetrius. Why can't I be as beautiful as her? She has it so easy.
  • Puck sees the sleeping Lysander and Hermia but mistakenly thinks that Lysander is the one that he is supposed to drop the love juice on. He sees that they are both sleeping far apart and that Lysander must have been bad to her; he then proceeds to drop the love juice on his eyelids and leave.
  • Oh, Lysander, what are you doing on the ground? If you're alive, wake up.
  • Helena follows Demetrius through the woods, as Demetrius searches for Hermia. Helena tells Demetrius to wait for her, but he does not stop, and tells her to leave him; Helena retaliates by saying that she is afraid of the dark, but this does not stop Demetrius from leaving her alone, causing Helena to fall behind.
  • I don't love Hermia, you are the one whom I love. Hermia is hideous and uncivil!
  • Helena starts thinking about why Demetrius rejected her; commencing to think about the better qualities that Hermia has over her. She has prettier eyes than her, and she was essentially so pretty that Helena can't compete with her; Hermia is luckier than Helena.
  • While Helena walks around in the woods thinking about how she got rejected by Demetrius, she stumbles upon Lysander lying on the ground, and tells him to wake up, to check if he's alive or needs help. She then gets startled by him waking up and blabbering about him loving her.
  • Helena believes that she is being mocked by everyone. She does not believe Lysander's love for her as it happened so suddenly, instead, she believes that they are playing some sort of joke on her; even though Lysander was expressing the fact that he doesn't love Hermia.
  • Excuse me? What kind of cruel joke are you guys playing on me?!
