  • The Patriarch Abraham made a covenant with God promising that if he and his family left Ur and traveled to Canan that one day Canan would be his descendents Promised Land. Jacob and his family moved to Egypt because Israel ran out of food and Egypt had an abundance of food. Then, Ramses, the new pharaoh, noticed that the Hebrew population was expanding and they believed in monotheism so he became distrustful of Hebrews and enslaved them all.

  • Moses was a Hebrew that was raised in the palace and he wanted to leave because Ramses was enslaving his people. Pharaoh Ramses would not let the Hebrews out of slavery.

  • The Pharaoh demanded that all the Israelites leave Egypt. The Israelites went to Sinai Peninsula, across the Red Sea.
  • The Israelites headed back towards Canan through the Sinai Peninsula. Moses received the Ten Commandments and other laws from God.
  • Joshua led the Israelites to Canan and they conquered Jericho. The Israelites conquered more small kingdoms and half of them settled near the dead sea and the other half went to the north or the east.
