  • Father Miguel Hidalgo is a priest who wanted everyone treated equally no matter their race and was supported by a lot of people in the bottom classes. He was later shot and killed by an officer who betrayed him.

  • A filibuster is a person who wages an unofficial war on a country for their own personal gain. Specifically, Philip Nolan, a filibuster who was selling wild horses was accused of spying on Spain and later attacked and killed.
  • Gutierrez de Lara meets another rebel named Augustus Magee and soon create an army named "The Republican Army of the North" which consisted of Tejanos, Native Americans, and white American filibusters. Their intention was to free Texas and Mexico from Spain's control. They were mostly successful with them making Spain suffer heavy losses and defeat the Goliad and Spanish troops. They have a battle with the Spanish forces South of the Medina River and lose almost everyone in their army.
  • The citizens of Mexico want a change in government after Agustin de Iturbide lost his power because of how he acted while he was president. Because of this constitution, the Mexican people could finally vote who they wanted as their leader with power being distributed to the national government, president, and individual state governments. They also had their own individual rights. Mexico was reorganized and has 19 states now with Texas being United with Coahuila.
