- A very long time ago in a small village in Japan, a young farmer and his mother lived under a cruel young lord who decreed that people over 71 must be banished into the mountains to die because he thinks they are useless fools who are too weak to work for a living.
- Climax
- The farmers mother, the wise old woman, had turned 71 and must be sent to the mountains to die. However, the young farmer brings his mother back to their house.
- Falling Action
- The farmer digs a hole in his kitchen and hides his mother there for two years,pretending to live alone while making hermeals and bringing them to her.
- Resolution

- No more banishment!
- Understandable, have a nice day.
- Then, Lord Higa threatens to take over the small village. The only thing that can save them is if they solve three impossible tasks.
- BARK!
- The wise old woman is presented with these tasks and due to her wisdom and knowledge she solves each task and tells her son, the farmer, the answers.

- The farmer tells the cruel lord the answers to the tasks and saves the village. When learning an old woman solved the tasks he decrees those over the age of 71 don't have to die in the mountains any longer.
