- This is when Geoff Tabin, a climber at the rock gym, yelled 13!, and Mark is 13, He snuck in the gym to train, as you need to be 15. This yell caught the attetion of the owner, who glared, although he did not take any action towards the situation.
- Everest '95
- Mark is climbing this volcanic mountain in preparations for his climb of Everest. He trained long and hard as his parents wanted him to be prepared before he would climb Everest. He had to bring his schoolwork to complete while he was away from school.
- Everest '96
- Left to right: Training staris at the Hospital, training at the gym, and NOLS outdoor mountain training. These are for Mark to train towards Everest. His parentes heavily encouraged him to train hard, and so did his trainers.
- Mark's Father's Passing
- Mark's first attempt at ascending Mount Everest. He climbed the Tibet side, and was the youngest on climb. His highest altitude was a staggering 25,000ft. His climb ended in a cracked rib as he was coughing too hard at too high of an altitude, where he had to drive home.
- Attempted summit of Mount Everest in 1996. The Team was unable to summit as storms raged on the mountain, despite waiting many days. Unfortunate as Mark had trained hard for this summit. He still was the youngest to climb 26,000ft on Everest.
- On July 1st, 1997, Mark's Father passed away due to cancer. This must've been heartbreaking, as Mark was very close to his father, and I feel bad for him for losing his best friend (his father). His father had been well enough to travel (still in pain), so he went around with his family (and Jabion) to numerous states. But when he had arrived home, it was only a few days before his last hospital visit.
