- Magellan was born and raised in Portugal and was the son of a nobleman he served his country as a soldier in North Africa and India but he felt like the king didn't fairly reward him for his loyal service he offered so he went to Spain (the Portugal's rival) he went to help Spanish grow rich from trade with the indies including India, China, Japan, and the Spice islands he claimed that the Portuguese were using fake maps to show the spice island were on their side of the Demarcation line was king Charles approved Magellan's plan and provided him five shipsand 240 men

- Magellan reached the Philippine islands while serving the Portuguese king then returned to Spain the Chief then persuaded Magellan to help him capture a nearby island rival tribe tribal warriors were armed with spears, bows, arrows, clubs, and rocks and when Magellan was reaching for his sword he was clubbed in the leg and knocked down then warriors surrounded him and killed him
