Most people don’t like the idea of running for fun; most actually think i'm crazy for wanting to do that. But what a lot of people don't realize is that track and field isn't all about running.
So let's start with the “track” part. When it comes to running track there are a bunch of different options. If you like sprinting, running short distances as fast as you can, then the 100m, 200m, 4x1 and 2x1 relays are for you and maybe even a 400m and relay.
On the other hand if you like middle/long distance then you'd be running the 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m and the relays for all of those as well. There are also races for hurdles.
Now getting into the “field” part track and field, you will have jumping and throwing. In those categories there will be different events.
If you want to be a jumper you'll have a choice of long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault. Then throwing includes javelin, discus, hammer and shot put.
Track and Field is a sport that anyone can play. There is always room for anyone who wants to join. If you like meeting new people and building new friendships, track would be great for you.
