- This moves the conflict or plot forward because Johnny kills bob and puts them into hiding eventually leading to his death. This also creates a tight bond between Pony-boy and Johnny. The dialogue shows how Pony-boy is about to die and how Bob is telling David to kill him.
- In this scene Pony-boy, Johnny, and Dally all rush into the abandon church to save kids but after they do they all come out with injuries like Pony-boy had bad burns and bruises, Dally had bad burns and a scared arm, but Johnny had the worst he had a broken back, bad burns, and bruises. This dialogue shows how they are scared to go in but they started it
- in this scene the gang came to tell johnny about the rumble but as they do he dies in front of them and they all started crying and didn't know what to do so they went home. This dialogue shows how johnny was dying and how the greasers beat the Soc's
