The internet and online tools are great for finding new data or organizing things, but I think its totally time consuming for actually learning. So I like pen and paper or my tablet notes for class
When I take notes and do schoolwork, I prefer very simple technoliges that dont require more time to use like paper notes and books instead of an online notetaking tool or D2L textbooks
As a student my daily life is marked by using different apps and technologies for school and other parts of life
Whats important to me is how a technology/platform interacts with others, and what unique experiences they offer me over others
I don't really have one technology or app that I like above others but really have a bunch of different ones that i use depending on the experience I need/want
Outside of school my technology preference usually goes for unique multimodal experiences.
My favorite parts about these apps are the thematic designs and animations. Bitmojis, stickers, animated emojis are the reasons I use these apps over text messaging
Ill communicate with other friends on Snapchat or when im sending stuff to someone 1 on 1 because it tells me when pictures are saved
Apps like Discord let me communicate with my friends to easily send links pictures, videos, play music, and even videogame invites through it
I've always wanted to try streaming or making music of some kind. I dont have video experience but I bet there are apps for that
Apps like Audible allow me to listen to sci-fi and fantasy novels whenever I want, and intereract with them mroe than I could a paper book
Teaching technology use in the classroom helps prepare kids and students for the real world which is always excited about using new tech
I still think books and reading abilities are far more important for young people to learn, and for adults to practice
I think because of the multi-modal nature of technology that its important for children to read. Books and reading make us use our imagination whereas moving pictures and sound does the work for us. I think we shoud foster as much imagination in kids as possible instead of programming their identities with popular media
I think education in technology also includes learning about moderation with techhnology and how to find info/entertainment without it
The modern era is essentially a technological era, kids should be taught how to live effectively in our data/technological world
