  • After a little bit more dialogue, Odysseus in disguise reveals to Penelope that Odysseus is definitely on his way to Ithica and that he was in Thesprotian country last he hear of him, but Penelope does not truly believe Odysseus will ever come back.
  • After the foot wash, Eurycleia left Penelope and Odysseus alone and Penelope told Odysseus of the strange dream she was having about the geese and the eagle.
  • Do not fret dear Penelope, last I heard, Odysseus is on his way here.
  • Really?
  • There is absolutely no problem!
  • After the rest of Odysseus and Penelope's conversation, in which Odysseus declined a bed with proper covers, he reluctantly accepted Eurycleia's foot wash.
  • Odysseus quickly answered:
  • Thank you Eurycleia!
  • However, Penelope seemingly disregards what Odysseus thinks and instead thinks that she wants to do a series of challenges in which the victor is the next person that she will marry, and with that, goes up too her room.
  • While washing the feet of Odysseus, Eurycleia noticed a scar on his foot from when she tended to him many years ago. As soon as she saw it, she knew the stranger was Odysseus and tried to happily get Penelope's attention, but Odysseus stops her and forces her to keep it a secret.
