- Pompey forms 3 man political alliance with Caesar and Crassus - the First Triumvirate.
- The factio broke apart when Crassus was killed, leading to violent riots in the street which the popular hero Caesar was wanted by the Senate to quell the rioting. This lead to the rivalry between Pompey and Caesar.
- Jan 49 BC Senate issued senatus consultum ultimum which gave Pompey power to disband Caesars army. This lead to civil war.
- Caesar beat Pompey and secured consulship, with Pompey fleeing to Egypt where he was murdered by King Ptolemy XIII.

- Caesar became dictator and began a 3 year series of campaigns which lead to the Gallic, Alexandrian, Pontic, African and many other defeats.
- 44BC Caesar becomes dictator perpetuus - dictator for life and doesn't want to bring back the Senate and republican constitute. He was assassinated on March 44 BC in hope to rescue the Roman Republic from the threat of the tyrant.
