  • In 213 BCE Qin Shi Huang ordered all books that were not about his reign to be burned because he was concerned about threats to his position. He had about 460 scholars buried alive for disagreeing with him.
  • In 215 BCE Qin Shi Huang ordered the construction of a massive tomb for his own use should he ever die along with 8000 clay soldiers. The soldiers known as The Terracotta Army would protect him in his afterlife. The tomb was also booby trapped to prevent thieves.
  •  Later in life Qin Shi Huang was scared of death and so wanted to live forever. He instructed his doctors to find a potion to make him live forever. Some contained mercury which ultimately lead to his death.
