Today, we're here to teach you all about this week's parsha, parshas Vayichi!
...and I'm Sara
In this week's parsha, Parshas Vayichi, Yaakov passes away, after living in Mitzrayim for 17 years. Before Yaakov passed away, Yaakov called Yosef to his room, asked him to promise that he will bury him in Me'aras Hamachpela. He then bentched Yosef's sons, Menashe Ephraim, with the bracha of Hamalach Hagoel. When yaakov bentched Menashe and Ephraim he crossed his hands. Instead of putting his right hand on Menashe (The older son) he put his right hand on (The younger son) Ephraim. Yaakov then called all of his sons to his room and bentches all of them. He tells each shevet what his role will be in B'nei yisroel. For example, he says that kings will come from Yehuda, and kohanim will come from shevet Levi. When Yaakov finished bentching the shevatim, he passed away. When Yaakov passed away he was 147 years old. Everyone in mitzrayim mourned when Yaakov passed away, because he was a tzadik, and he brought brachos to mitzrayim when he came. When Yaakov passed away, the shevatim became very scared. They were worried that Yosef would now want to take revenge on them for selling him. Yosef assured them that he had no plans to do so. Yosef passed away at the age of 110. Before he passed away he said that he wanted to be buried in Eretz Yisroel. The Mitzriyim did not let the jewish people take his body out of mitzrayim, but when the Yidden leave mitzrayim, Moshe takes Yosef's body to be buried in Eretz Yisroel.CHAZAK CHAZAK VENISCHAZEK!
