The endosymbiotic theory is when eukaryotes evolved from prokaryotes. The theory also says that larger prokaryotes consumed smaller prokaryotes causing the first eukaryotic cell.
Here´s a Visual, The bigger prokaryote is consuming the smaller prokaryote causing the eukaryotic cell. Then the eukaryote and prokaryote formed mitochondrion.
I get it now. But I have a question. Is their evidence that this theory is true?
Their is evidence. It is a lot.
Ok.
Mitochondria and chloroplasts both have their own circular DNA just like prokaryotes.
NO WAY!!!!!
Since eukaryotic cells came from prokaryotes, some people believed that mitochondria came specifically from the cell that could produce ATP because of itś ability to produce enrgy and chloroplasts came specifically from the cxell that had photosynthesis because of its ability to convert light energy to chemichal energy
It makes so much sense now
Another fun fact is that, when the prokaryote consumed another cell it had its ability. For example, if the bigger prokaryote consumes a small eukaryote, then the membrane would have the mebrane of the host so the old membrane is the inner membrane and the new membrane is the outer membrane
