Elise Thomson has her own secret diary. Nobody else has read it. One day, her brother Mason decides to trick her into thinking that she's in trouble and her Mum notices her. But when Elise finds out, it's too late; Mason has already read her diary. Mason tries to tell everyone about what Elise wrote, but Elise traps Mason in his room for a week. And Mason can't stand it in his sister's girly room, so he promises not to tell anyone about it. That's when Elise knows that her brother isn't the worst. And Mason learns to keep his promises.
