  • Capulet leaves after handing the servant (left) a guest list for his party and instructs him to read it but the servant is illiterate.
  • Romeo can read so the list is handed to him to interpret. While reading the names, he realized Roseline is on the list (his love interest) and he wants to find a way to get into the party.
  • "...I can read."(1.2.64)
  • Romeo finds interest in Juliet instead of Roseline. They exchange loving words. 
  • If I profane with my unworthiest handThis holy shrine, the gentle sin is this:My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready standTo a smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss(1.5.92-96)
  • They kiss and fall in love.They know that what they are doing is a sin since their families have a feud.

  • Friar Lawrence believes they are getting married too fast and have not known each other long enough. He is worried things will end badly.
  • Tybalt (middle) and Mercutio (on ground) got into fight and Tybalt stabs and kills Mercutio whilst Romeo was trying to break up the fight.
  • Thou wretched boy, that didst consort him here, shalt with him hence.(3.1.126)
  • Romeo decides to kill Tybalt to avenge Mercutio and out of guilt since Mercutio blamed romeo for his death because the fight did not include him.

  • Juliet is extremely saddened by this and feels dead. Nurse (left) offers to find Romeo to make Juliet happy again.
