مرحباً أنا أسمي سارة الشلة . أنا أتكلم العربية فقط
In the Past
Like any other immigrants, after settling in Canada, my family and I did not know how to speak English, except for my father, who was the family's only link of communication with the outer world.
In the Present
At the start of first grade, my vocabulary consisted of mostly Arabic words, making it challenging to communicate with others. However, my first grade English teacher (Mrs. Burrows),who I give all the credence too taught me how to read, write, and speak English.
In the Present
Throughout my first two years in Canada, I faced many challenges while learning English. Mrs. Burrows, on the other hand, stood by my side, encouraging me and providing me with moral and professional support, never minding how many times I failed, stuttered, and/or gave up. Mrs. Burrows' impact is manifested through my love and passion for steadfastly learning the English language.
In the Present
Like other students, completing in this comprehensive course has solidified my knowledge and broadened my horizon. At the end of the course, I realized how my English skills have evolved. The course is well designed, it teaches students how to use reading strategies, rhetorical devices, and how to write an option essay.
Firstly, it became a natural convention for me to apply the new reading strategies while reading. Secondly, using rhetorical devices in my writings and my speeches helps me convey different emotions through language. Lastly, the course laid down the foundation and structure on how to write an opinion essay.
Much knowledge needs to be acquired before I can say I know the English language fluently. I now realize that I am like a needle in a haystack when it comes to knowledge.
