God promises King David that all of his descendants will be always rule. David doesn't have to do anything to make Gods promise come true. His descendants will be fair, honest, powerful, strong, and have justice.
The kings of Israel turn against God, they were corrupt and unfair. God begged them to turn back to him but instead they started a civil war. However God sends prophets to his people to warn them about what would happen if they didn't stop sinning.
God's people didn't turn back to him, so God let their enemies attack them, and take them out of the promised land into Exile. This was Gods way to teach them a lesson on if you don't respect him them he will punish you, but eventually forgive you. He forgave the Israelites and gave them a second chance.
Some of Abraham's descendants return but are still waiting for Messiah to bring blessing to all of the world, till this day.
