George Washington
Before any of the fighting started, colonial delegates met with the Iroquois Nation in New York at the Albany Conference. Benjamin Franklin came up with an idea called The Albany Plan of Union which he presented at the conference. The plan described that all the colonies should work together under a central government. Benjamin Franklin even made a cartoon called Join or Die to try and convince the coloines, but they all rejected the idea.
In April of 1754, a British General named Edward Braddock recruited George Washington to be his aide in the colonies. The British troops marched to Fort Duquesne but they were ambushed by the French and their Indigenous people's allies. General Edward Braddock was killed, but George Washington was able to hold the troops together when they retreated. Because the ambush was successful, however, the Lenni-Lenape people started to attack the British settlers around western Pennsylvania.
On July 3rd, George Washington had a fort called Fort Necessity in Pennsylvania which got ambushed by the French. Washington surrendered and this is the only time he ever did so.
