11 March 1938, Hitler wanted the plebiscite postponed, Schuschnigg agreed in fear that Britain, Italy and France would not support him if he defied Hitler. Hitler forced Schuschnigg to resign and made sure that the Nazi solicitor, Seyss-Inquart ( who appionted minister for the interior for the agreement with Hitler and Schuschnigg and given power over Austrian police) would become the chancellor . the same day Seyss-Inquart became chancellor and immediately claimed that Austria was chaotic and requested that Germany would restore peace
12 March !938 ( the next day) Nazi's invaded Austria but the tanks kept having to stop at Austrian petrol stations and the commanders used tourist guides to find their ay to the capital , Vienna. no one got hurt a all and people cheered for the troops and showered hem flowers and gifts. Mussolini stayed true to the Anti-Comintern Pact and did not oppose to Anschluss
