- In this scene Jin kisses Suzy. Suzy is Wei-Chens Girlfriend therefore Wei-Chen was very mad at Jin for his act of betrayal. This made the theme of betrayal very relavant. You can learn that anyone can be betrayed by their peers.

- In this scene in the book Danny, Chin-kee, and Steve create a new friendship in the cafeteria. This creates the theme of friendship because Danny often moves schools because he lacks friends. He blames the fact that he does not have any friends on his cousin Chin-kee. You can take the importance of friendship away this story.

- The monkey king goes to the gods dinner party. He is denied entrance and a god tells him he needs shoes to enter. This makes the monkey king furious. This brings the theme of identity to story because the monkey king thinks he needs to start wearing shoes just because a god told him he is different. This story teaches us that no one person is the same as another!
- Empathy
- Hey my name is Jin and I am new.
- In this scene Jin realizes Wei-Chen transformed into a monkey. This shows the theme transformation which can teach us that sometimes transformation can be good, but transformation can also be for the worst.
- In the scene when the monkey is denied entrance to the dinner party he resorts to violence. The monkey beat up all the gods. We can take away violence is never the answer in life from this.
- In the story we can empathize for Jin because he is brought into an environment where stereotypes fly around. We can feel what Jin is feeling becase he is not comfortable in this new environment . The theme of empathy can teach us how to put ourselves in other peoples shoes.
